Individual Psychotherapy - Guidelines

Kindly read through the guidelines below carefully before booking a session. The same would be sent to you as a form over email for consent before the session.

ABOUT

Psychotherapy is a helping relationship between a psychotherapist and a client, to help the client achieve their mental health goals. It is provided both in-person and online. It works on an appointment basis only and is not meant for emergencies or crises.

CONFIDENTIALITY

All information and material discussed during the sessions will be recorded, kept confidential, stored safely and unavailable to any other third party, unless there is a need to release them because of a danger to the client or others, unreported abuse and/or as required by law. The counsellor would sometimes share the proceedings for supervision and/or for the training of professionals with complete anonymity. However, if there is any breach in technological security, both the client and the counsellor will not hold each other responsible.

DURATION,
PRICING AND CANCELLATION

Each session will be for 45 minutes and charged based on the client's location and occupation. While making the payment, ensure to choose the price that describes your accurate occupation and location. You will be required to submit an ID (student ID, government ID). Choosing the incorrect pricing will result in session cancellation with no refund of fee. The session fees are bound to revisions.

For cancellations before 48 hours from the session time, the fees will be refunded. The time taken for the refund depends on the payment gateway (usually 5 - 7 business days). For cancellations with less than 48 hours, full fee will be charged. If a session is not cancelled but the client does not show within the first 10 minutes of the session, full fee will be charged in this case as well. Reschedules are also allowed 48 hours before the session time. There will be no refunds and/or transfer of session fees to someone else.

RIGHTS AND
RESPONSIBILITIES

Counselling is a voluntary service with the freedom to withdraw or temporarily stop sessions at any time for both the parties. Online sessions have their own limitations as compared to in-person sessions and so the psychologist may recommend any other method/line of treatment (including making referrals to other professionals, nearest available mental health or emergency service) if either of them experience any difficulty in the process and in the client’s best interest.

At the same time, the client does not hold the counsellor responsible, should any adverse events, such as lack of improvement, deterioration or situations of potential risk of harm to self or others, occur during consultation. The counsellor might require reports regarding the client’s history and the kind of treatment provided to the client, especially if pre-diagnosed with mental illness and the client shall provide the same.

RECOMMENDATIONS

It is recommended that the client and the therapist have sessions at least once a week to work together consistently. There is no fixed number of sessions that a client might need, however 6 to 8 sessions is usually found effective. The client can feel free to share any feedback with the therapist in order to ensure that they get the best out of the sessions.
